Make sure you keep your little one warm
Newborns need to be kept warm, especially for the first few months. After every bath ensure that you dry your baby well with a clean cloth and cover him or her completely from head to toe. When your baby is resting, place him on your abdomen to give him or her the warmth. Also ensure that you cover your child with a clean and soft blanket.
Let your baby breathe well
Make sure that you let your little one breathe well. The mucous present in the mouth and nose needs to be cleaned well which shall help in proper breathing. You can use a nose aspirator to clean the babies’ nose.
Understand when to breastfeed
This is a crucial tip that must be followed by all parents. Your child must only be breastfed when he or she is breathing without any problem. This means that if you child has been facing any issues while breathing, he or she must not be force fed. Respiratory issues can cause health problems and hence breastfeeding during this time is not advised. But breastfeeding at regular intervals every 3-4 hour is important for a new born child.
Cleaning the umbilical cord
Sterilizing the umbilical cord and drying it well is extremely important. Cleaning it well shall help in preventing problems such as infection or bacterial growth which may cause health issues.
Observe for any lack of vitamins
Newborn babies usually lack in certain Vitamins like vitamin K. In cases like these, doctors or pediatricians may recommend giving your child an injection of vitamin K. This also helps in preventing the hemorrhagic disease in kids.
Learn to be patient
New-born babies are extremely sensitive and hence offering immediate care to them depends upon your patience level. You need to be extremely diligent when taking care of your little one and need to ensure that you do not panic or lose your calm.
These early days of your baby’s life can be stressful to new parents and it is important that you ask your doctor any questions you might have, don’t feel shy or embarrassed to ask a question even if you feel it might be silly or common sense.
